Visions of Sugar Plums {Hotel Murano| Tacoma Family Photographer}

20 Dec

Be forewarned: cute does not begin to define the adorable little girls! I recently had the pleasure of taking some photos of SIX little girls. I’ve done family, wedding, senior, and regular portrait photography and this by far was the most challenging, though anyone who knows me knows I’m up for the challenge. Their ages ranged from 1-5 (if memory serves me correctly which it often does not so please excuse any discrepancies) and sometimes, you just have to go by what the boss, or the kids decide. That is typically my strategy anyhow. We sang songs, ate goldfish, checked out our favorite ornaments on the huge tree, chased each other, and even played good old peek-a-boo. One of the girls knew just what to do when it was her turn to take individual photos. She posed like a rock star! I loved seeing all their little smiles and had a blast playing with them…but that wasn’t what I was supposed to be there for. What can I say? I can’t help myself. I’m such a kid. I don’t think much more needs to be said because the pictures will speak for themselves. PS…a few are not spot on but I still loved them…probably because I’m a mom and oooohhhh and aaaaaaahhhh and get teary eyed over the vast amounts of photos I have of the back of my child’s head. It’s what I’ve got of her and I will forever remember the child she is and has been long after she’s grown. I hope I’ve at least provided that much to the mommies of these little ones. By the way, some are sisters and some are cousins. I don’t really know how to break that down in correct terminology but I’ll leave it at that and share these cute little munchkins with you now since I think that’s why you come here! Thanks for stopping by. SistersI see you! Aaaawwww Hey punkin! Fanshier Family {Tacoma, WA| Family Photographer}

20 Dec

For starters, let me say, I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA lately. Lots is going on with home life, some good, some not so much but everything is being taken in stride. As most of you know, I am currently pursuing my BS in Psychology and thus have not been taking on many clients but believe me, I miss my camera like it is my child! Moving on…

I cannot say enough about this amazing family. They have the most adorable son, Carter, who really knows his stuff when it comes to the dance floor. You’ll see what I mean soon enough. We went to the very well-known glass museum in Tacoma and managed not to get rained on too much while spending some time on the museum’s bridge. By the way, I’ve never been inside the museum, but should you find you have the opportunity, they have, so I’ve heard, beautifully showcased Dale Chihuly’s amazing blown glass art pieces. We’re getting off track…you…stop distracting me. Ha! I think what I should mention about the Fanshier family is that I’ve known them for about a decade. I met Marc and Naomi while working retail. We all worked in the same place, all in different jobs. Back then, Naomi and I were two peas in a pod and we practically spoke a language that only we could understand. And Marc, well, I always thought he was picking on me. HA HA HA! Several years later, the two were married, and I was blessed to be Naomi’s maid of honor. Now they have this beautiful little boy with a contagious smile and laughter, and, again, moves…probably like Jagger…  We found ourselves braving the cold for a bit, yes, but found that in this day, we have the commodity of coffee and hot chocolate, and even cupcakes and pastries. We stepped into a small coffee shop attached to Hello Cupcake! which has lovely and delicious cupcakes and they even have some gluten free options. They are sharing a space with a coffee shop in between Union Station and University of Washington. I love historic parts of Tacoma. I also really love kitschy little cupcake and coffee shops! I could not have been more excited to FINALLY get together with them to do some fall family portraits. One of my favorite things is to see when people loosen up and I could tell at first Marc was not super comfy but honestly, I’m not either when I’m on the other side of the lens so I don’t blame the guy. However, when his son needed his attention, he went into daddy mode and it was super cool to see him doing his daddy thing. I love candidly watching my daughter’s interactions with her daddy. Hello Cupcake!It is amazing to see how we’ve all grown as individuals and I’m so happy for my friends and the life that they’ve built together. Marc and Naomi, thank you so much for allowing me to spend some time with you guys while doing one of the things I love doing best!
